Play the trombone? Band needs you

If you are a former or current high school or college trombone player or if you just want to keep up your skills, you are invited to join a new community band sponsored by the city of Tualatin.

The New Horizons Big Band, which formed last September, meets every Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the Juanita Pohl Community Center, 8513 S.W. Tualatin Road in Tualatin. It is affiliated with the New Horizons International Music Association and performs regularly for the city of Tualatin and at other venues when invited. The band gave two performances in December, and have more coming up in February and March.

All musicians read music and will pay a nominal fee to cover expenses ($25 annual membership, $7 weekly tuition).

The co-founder and director is Brad Davis, a trumpet player and big band leader of the Kansas City Rhythm Kings. Former big band keyboard player Suzanne Short is co-founder and manager.
