Lloyd Center Cinema II: The Experience
Regal Entertainment Group will open a 14-screen theatre in Lloyd Center equipped with luxury seating and a full bar to provide Portland moviegoers with what it calls "an unrivaled cinematic experience," the company said Friday.
At Lloyd Center, guests will enjoy a new state-of-the-art theatre featuring Regal Luxury Recliners providing more room and comfort. The theatre will also include a bar and dining options located in the lobby complete with lounge seating.
"Movie-goers and shoppers from across the state are going to be impressed with the new theater and its luxury amenities," said Bob Dye, general manager of Lloyd Center. "We are thrilled to house this unique theatre and look forward to creating exciting new experiences with our local community, Portland and the state of Oregon."
Lloyd Center removed its indoor multiplex two years ago and turned the space into offices. Now it plans to return a higher end cinema as a way of anchoring one end of the mall. The west end, which housed Nordstrom, is slated to be a music venue.
The new movie theatre "brings a welcome entertainment option for the growing Lloyd area, which has seen an influx of foot traffic accompanying new and planned developments, including the addition of approximately 1,300 apartments at the existing Regal theatre site near the mall," Regal said in a release.
Completion of the project is scheduled for 2019.
The existing Regal theatre, across the street, will remain in operation until completion of this project, at which point it is scheduled to be demolished.
