Estacada company's new, larger industrial campus home will likely be complete by summer

Reconcraft will move to a larger facility in the Estacada Industrial Campus later this year that will more than double its production space.

"The space will allow us to realize more efficiency," said Reconcraft co-founder Joe Silkowski. "We have a lot more contracts in the book."

Formed in 2008, Reconcraft primarily builds vehicles for the military. In its current facility on Heiple Road, they produce between 20-30 boats each year, a number that is expected to increase when they move to their new location.

Reconcraft's new facility will likely be completed this summer. It will consist of a 7,200 square foot indoor facility and a 1,500 square foot outdoor area covered by an awning.

"We've tapped out the footprint of our one acre lot," Silkowski said. "That's a real testament to our employees who made things work well with space challenges. There's a lot of 'can do' spirit."

Reconcraft has seen success in recent years. In 2017, the company won an award from the Department of Homeland Security for a contract with the U.S. Border Patrol. Through this contract, Reconcraft created a fleet of airboats that can operate longer, carry more people and are easier to service and maintain.

Leaders from Reconcraft recently spoke at an open house at the Greater Portland Inc. offices about why they appreciate working in the Portland area. Greater Portland, Inc., is an economic development group that serves the region, and Reconcraft was one of two businesses featured at the event.

Silkowski appreciates working in Estacada for several reasons, including Reconcraft's partnership with fellow Estacada company Northwest Technologies.

"They're one of our primary suppliers for parts," he said. "They're a tremendous resource. With our new building, we're literally going to be next door neighbors."
