Deputies report vehicle break-ins in neighborhood near Westview High

Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded Saturday morning to several reports of items being stolen from vehicles in the Rock Creek neighborhood.

Early Saturday morning, deputies and crime scene technicians responded to the Rock Creek area near Westview High School on several reports of thefts from vehicles. Investigating deputies believe the vehicle thefts occurred during the night between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. Each vehicle was processed for possible suspect information.

The thieves targeted vehicles that were left unlocked. They stole a variety of valuable items, such as navigation devices, backpacks and cellphones.

Law enforcement officials said the best way to prevent these types of thefts is to lock your vehicle and remove any items of value from view.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the public in locating the suspects. Anyone who saw anything suspicious or anyone who looked out of place is asked to call the non-emergency dispatch number, 503-629-0111, to speak with a deputy.

Cars that were burglarized were parked on the following streets: Northwest Columbia, Northwest 187th, Northwest Lapinie, Northwest Vale and Northwest Athena.
