Investigation prompted by earlier reports of inappropriate relationship

An Aloha High School teacher accused of being involved in a sexual relationship with an underage former student turned himself in to Washington County Sheriff's Office detectives on Tuesday morning and will face a Washington County grand jury for his alleged WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Aloha High School teacher Eric Wise was arrested Tuesday morning on allegations of engaging in a sexual relationship with a former student.

Eric Wise, a marketing and business teacher at Aloha, went to the sheriff's office at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. He was arrested and lodged in the Washington County Jail on accusations of second-degree sexual abuse and furnishing alcohol to a minor, before posting bail.

Sheriff’s detectives investigated the allegations before Wise's arrest. In early January, concerned citizens came forward to report suspicions that Wise was involved in a sexual relationship with a former student, who was underage at the time, said Sgt. Vince Stimler, spokesman for the sheriff's office. Detectives interviewed several people they believed had knowledge of the case and developed probable cause that the crimes of second-degree sex abuse and furnishing alcohol to a minor had been committed.

The Beaverton School District cooperated fully with this investigation, placing Wise on administrative leave, Stimler said. Detectives collaborated with the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission.

Wise's case will be heard by a Washington County grand jury in the near future.

Concerned there could be more victims, detectives would like to speak with anyone who might have additional information. Those with information are asked to contact Det. Robert Rookhuyzen at 503-846-2673
