Truck driver arrested after chase for suspicion of DUII

A motorcyclist was injured in a hit-and-run collision with a truck whose driver allegedly fled the scene early Sunday morning near the intersection of Tualatin Valley Highway and Southwest 139th Avenue.

The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he went straight into surgery.

The driver of the truck that struck the motorcycle, Oscar Ottoniel Bravo Matias, 33, was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants. He was lodged in the Washington County Jail on warrants and probation violations with additional charges based on the DUII wreck BEAVERTON POLICE DEPARTMENT - A motorcyclist collided with a pickup truck early Sunday morning on Tualatin Valley Highway near its interecstion with Southwest 139th Ave.

Beaverton police officers received a call on Sunday at 12:08 a.m. of a vehicle vs. motorcycle accident near Southwest 139th and TV Highway. Officers found the rider of the motorcycle down with serious injuries, while the driver of the truck had fled on foot. Officers treated the victim and started a K9 track for the suspect.

An off duty Clark County firefighter who witnessed the crash assisted officers at the scene with a suspect description and details about the accident. He also assisted in helping the victim until rescue personnel arrived. He told officers the motorcyclist was westbound in the slow lane of TV Highway, traveling about 40-45 mph. The suspect truck was driving eastbound on the road and turned north/left toward Southwest 139th and hit the motorcyclist head on. The suspect immediately left the truck and fled on foot.

Officers received a call at 2:22 a.m. at 13820 S.W. Electric St., a short distance from the accident, regarding a subject pounding on their door and then getting into their vehicle. Officers arrived and determined the subject was the hit-and-run suspect and identified him as Matias.

Evidence suggests Matias was driving under the influence. He was arrested and taken to a hospital for a DUII blood draw. Matias is lodged at Washington County Jail on warrants and probation violations with charges related to the DUII and hit and run forthcoming.
