The Beaverton Police Department is participating in a yearlong National Traffic Safety Campaign. The focus of this campaign is taking impaired drivers off the streets and keeping Beaverton a safe city to travel and live.
Officers were out on focused patrols for impaired drivers during the month of February and made 32 DUII arrests. During the month of March, officers will continue their efforts to take impaired drivers off the streets.
These High Visibility Enforcement details are paid for by grant funds. So far this year, Beaverton Police Officers have taken 56 impaired drivers off of Beaverton streets. Eight of these 56 subjects refused a breath test and a warrant for a blood draw was granted.
Drunken driving, impaired driving or so-called "buzzed" driving all have the potential to claim lives and can result in jail time.
