The board also seeks a temporary replacement for Linda Degman, who resigned.

Five of seven seats on the Beaverton School Board will be up for election this May. And the deadline to file as a candidate is this Thursday.

All five school board positions run for four year. They are:

Zone 1, currently held by Susan Greenberg; Zone 2, held by Anne Bryan; Zone 4, held by Donna Tyner; Zone 5, held by LeeAnn Larsen; and Zone 7, formerly held by Linda Degman, who resigned.

To qualify, candidates must be a registered voter; live within the School Board Zone they wish to represent; live in the school district for one year immediately preceding the election; and cannot be an employee of the district.

A candidates forum has been set for 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Wednesday, April 12, in the cafeteria of Beaverton High School, 13000 S.W. Second St.

The School Board also is accepting applications for appointment to the Zone 7 board position to be held until June 2017, when the winner of the May election would take over.

People wishing to serve the remainder of Degman's term must submit letters or emails of interest to:
