Virginia Garcia awarded millions to help uninsured children

Virginia Garcia, National University of Natural Medicine and Neighborhood Health Center partner to treat 4,000 uninsured children over the next year.

TRIBUNE FILE PHOTO - Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center plans to provide free healthcare to 4,000 children across the Portland area, thanks to a new grant from the Oregon Health Authority. The center plans to use its school-based health centers, including its Centur High School clinic, to find eligable students.Hillsboro's Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center and two other organizations have received nearly $2 million in grants from the Oregon Health Authority to help children and teens across the Portland area.

On Monday, May 15, Virginia Garcia announced that OHA had awarded $1.9 million to the health care center, as well as the National University of Natural Medicine Health Center and the Neighborhood Health Center to fund a new program called "I'm Healthy! / ¡Soy Sano!"
