PHOTOS COURTESY OF TVF&R - Off-duty Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue firefighters will take to the streets on May 22 in Beaverton, May 23 in Wilsonville, June 2 in Newberg and June 3 in Tigard to Fill the Boot for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and help send children and teens like 16-year-old Allison Reetz, center, to MDA summer camp. Motorists are invited to drop cash and check donations into firefighters boots. For 60 years, firefighters such as those with Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue have been "Filling the Boot" on street corners to fight back against Muscular Dystrophy and ALS. TVF&R Kicked off the campaign on Friday morning at Station 66 in South Beaverton.

Firefighters and volunteers will spend four days filling the boot. Each year they have given millions of dollars to MDA to fund life-changing research and family services. TVF&R personnel are hitting the streets to do it again.

Funds raised through TVF&R's 2017 Fill the Boot events support the Muscular Dystrophy Association's life-enhancing programs, including support groups and clinics and assist families with medical equipment and costs. They also make MDA summer camp possible so children with muscle diseases can enjoy a week of fun activities while gaining confidence and independence.
