Rep. Sheri Malstrom of Beaverton voted "aye" on the House floor today, when County Commissioner Dick Schouten asked her to marry him.
"I can confirm that the good Washington County Commissioner proposed today on the House floor and Representative Malstrom graciously accepted," said Derek Olson, Malstrom's chief of staff.
This is Malstrom's rookie year in the House. She has has more than 30 years of experience as a public health nurse. She previously served on the Oregon Commission on Women, and is a lifetime resident of Washington County.
Schouten represents the Aloha, Beaverton, Cooper Mountain and the Reedville area on the County Commission. He's been on the board since 2000. He also has served on Metro's Active Transportation Council; Washington County's Aging and Veteran Services Advisory Council; Bridges to Housing Portland Regional Steering Committee, among others.
