A Friday fire in the Scholls Apartments displaced nine people and required two alarms. No one was reported injured.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
At 1:40 p.m. Friday, July 7, firefighters were called to the apartments in the 5100 block of Southwest Scholls Ferry Road east of Beaverton. Firefighters from Raleigh Hills Station 70 began working outside the building, then transitioned to interior firefighting operations and began to search for possible victims.
Due to the size of the complex, and the involvement of four separate apartments, the incident commander requested a second alarm to bring additional firefighters.
Crews battled the fire for more than 40 minutes before the incident was declared under control.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the initial involved units, with one apartment sustaining heavy fire damage, and an additional four units sustaining moderate smoke and water damage. There were no reported injuries, and all occupants made it out of the apartment complex safely.
TVF&R was assisted on scene by units from Portland Fire and Rescue, and Washington County Sheriff's Office. The American Red Cross is responding to assist approximately 9 displaced residents.
