Info meetings set for Tuesday and Wednesday

The Cultural Coalition of Washington County opened a second grant cycle this year on Wednesday.

Through its history the coalition has conducted a spring grant cycle, funding projects for the following fiscal year. At the request of the Oregon Cultural Trust, the coalition is moving to a calendar year cycle. So, for one time only, Washington County-based nonprofit arts, heritage and humanities organizations will have a second chance to apply for grants.

Organizations may apply for grants of up to $2,000. To apply for a $2,000 grant, an organization must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Funds are to be used for projects taking place during 2014.

Organizations that were awarded grants in June for fiscal year 2013-14 projects may apply for a 2014 grant as well.

The Community Cultural Participation grant program provides financial support for Washington County nonprofit arts, heritage and humanities organizations. Applicants can apply for activities or opportunities that address one or more of four goals: public awareness and participation; cultural learning; cultural and economic development; and support for existing cultural organizations.

The Washington County Cultural Plan, detailed 2014 grant guidelines, and application instructions for the Community Cultural Participation grant program are available online at

The grant application period ends Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. Potential applicants are welcome to attend one of the grant orientation sessions scheduled for Tuesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Beaverton City Library, 12375 S.W. Fifth St., Meeting Room B; and for Wednesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m., at the Walters Cultural Arts Center, 527 E. Main Street in Hillsboro.
