The Canby Center has finalized a deal that will give it a permanent home at last.

The Canby Center will finally have a permanent home. Director Tim Lesher recently announced that a deal will be finalized to buy the building next to the Canby High School administrative offices on Southeast Second Avenue.

The new facility will have room for all of The Canby Center’s programs, a safe place for children, room for its community garden and room to expand when the time comes.

“The leadership believes that a permanent home speaks to our commitment to meet needs in the community as long as they exist,” Lesher said. “We are committed to be a place of sharing Christ’s love in a tangible way to the most vulnerable community members.

“Our new location will serve as a place of hope for generations,” Lesher added. “As an organization supported by the people in Canby, we strive to be fiscally responsible and this shows that commitment.”

The Canby Center was founded by area churches in 2007 with a vision of showing how a collective local body can work together with each other, other civic organizations and various social agencies to provide much needed services to those, young and old, within the Canby School District area.

“For those we serve, it gives a sense of security and permanency,” Lesher said. “They are often in life situations that are anything but stable. The Canby Center can be their stability. The provision of this location shows how mighty our God is.”
