The arcing power lines damaged the roadway and started a grass fire that could not be put out until PGE crews shut off the electricity, the Canby Fire District said.

The highway was shut down while firefighters extinguished the fire and PGE crews replaced the pole.

The occupants of the car that struck the pole were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
