Aurora Unit 110 plans breakfast, sale over Colony Days

Learn the history of Aurora at the annual Colony Days celebration Aug. 9-10. Aurora Unit 110, American Legion Auxiliary, and its Legionnaires will serve its all-you-can-eat-pancake breakfast Saturday from 7-11 a.m. before the parade starts.

An added attraction this year at the Aurora Post, 21510 Main St., is a building improvement rummage sale which will be held upstairs on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Breakfast chairwoman Amber Petersen will add scrambled eggs and sausage to the menu for $6 for adults, $4 for children ages up to 12.

Macksburg Rod and Gun Club sets member picnic

The Macksburg Rod and Gun Club will hold its annual members picnic Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Elks Park in Mulino.

In addition to food, there will be games for adults and children.

Canby Center has school supply drive

The Canby Center will begin a school supply drive Monday at Thriftway and local churches.

The Canby Center seeks basic school supplies such as crayons, colored pencils, glue sticks, pencils, notebook paper, markers, facial tissues, and one-inch three ring binders. Backpacks will be collected as well.

Canby Adult Center offering free shuttle to fair on Senior Day

The Canby Adult Center will run a free fair shuttle on Senior Day, Aug. 14, again this year.

People can park at the center and take the shuttle to the main gate.

Friends of French Prairie plan fundraiser

Friends of French Prairie will hold its annual French Prairie Farm Feast on Sunday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m. at the Newell House Museum next to Champoeg State Park. This fundraiser offers a full course dinner prepared from products grown in French Prairie and celebrates local agriculture.

Cost is $45 per person and includes wine and cheese hour and full course buffet dinner with desert, served with two local wines. Event also includes a silent auction-raffle.

Canby Adult Center will clown around on Grandparents Day

The Canby Adult Center will celebrate Grandparents Day, Aug. 22, with clowns Blossom and Baloney on hand to paint faces, create balloon animals and demonstrate clown magic.

The CAC invites kids, grandkids, any kids at all, to stop by for clowning and a hamburger feed at 11:30 a.m. The event is $3 for children ages 11-under, $4.25 for ages 12 to 59. It is donation only for attendees age 60 and above.

Saturday market continues schedule

Canby Saturday Market is now open every Saturday in the Canby Cinema 8 parking lot behind Cutsforth’s Thriftway. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Saturday market features fresh produce, plants and unique handmade items.

Canby Adult Center continues its Tuesday bingo sessions

The Canby Adult Center’s bingo game runs from 1-4 p.m. Tuesdays. Doors open at noon.

There are 10 regular games, four specials and a weekly blackout game. The first regular packet is $5 and the second is $3. There’s also a blackout pot of $200 and weekly raffles.
