Oregon's History Minstrels at Gwynn's Coffeehouse
Oregon's New History Minstrels will perform its fourth and final concert during its "History though Harmony, a Thanksgiving gift to Canby" on Saturday, Nov. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at Gwynn's Coffeehouse (formerly the Place to Be Cafe).
The four-performance show throughout Canby has been well-received.
"We were very happy to support this series in conjunction with Clackamas County's Tourism Development Council, who provided a portion of the funding. This broadened our museum experience," said Nora Clark, president of Canby Historical Society.
The Minstrels were founded as a performing troupe of a capella singers with the intention of integrating young people as storytellers and history presenters in 2013 in Canby. They have performed now with a full complement of youth troupe members in nearly 200 settings, including local schools, riverboat programs, professional tours and retail settings from Canby south to Salem.
Their final performance will focus in on river history, the details of railroad settlement, and the unique natural history of the Willamette Valley, as it courses through Ice Age flood deposits that form the great farmlands internationally known in Canby.
