Local artist Ron Pomeroy will have a display of his work at the Canby Public Library through May

One of the works of Ron Pomeroy that is on display at the Canby Public Library through May.

Local artist Ron Pomeroy has created a niche for himself by substituting beer for water when executing his watercolors.

Why beer, you might ask? "It tastes better," says Pomeroy, and "BeerColors" was born. Sixteen of his vibrant pieces are on display at the Canby Public Library through May 31.

Pomeroy has been painting on and off, since the mid-80s. Painting has become his day job after retiring from practicing law in 2011. While his first paintings consisted of wildlife scenes, as of late he is embracing bold and vibrant abstracts.

Since his early days of mixing water and beer he has now added wine to the mix. Viewers will be feeling joy as they contemplate his exuberant and colorful expressions.
