To the editor:

Just wanted to say thanks to the Canby Herald for the update on the Dahlia project and for letting us know that the old library building could soon have new life.STOCK IMAGE - Pamplin Media Group

There are exciting things happening in downtown Canby and while I understand that there will be issues and questions and concerns moving forward (parking as always), I think the potential positives far outweigh the negatives in this regard.

Canby has so much potential that isn't being fulfilled downtown and I think that these two projects, along with smaller projects in and around that area, will go a long way towards creating a vibrant downtown scene. This is the next step in Canby's evolution in its downtown core area. My real concern is what types of businesses will be willing or able to get into the commercial areas in both projects? I worry that businesses will go in, fail, and we will simply have more empty business spaces moving forward.

But let's wait to see how that develops. In the meantime, the Dahlia project that's underway, and the potential of the old library building are exciting developments.
