Clackamas County Fair gets rolling with talent show and gospel music contests

The annual Clackamas County Fair and Canby Rodeo is only a couple weeks away, but already, competitions for this year’s fair have begun.

Whether by dancing, juggling or singing, talent flowed onto the stage recently as the Talent Show and Gospel Sing competitions offered tryouts.

Talent Show competition:

There are three divisions within the talent show: Children (ages 5-9), Youth (ages 10-17), and Adult (18 years of age and older).

Cash prizes will be awarded for first through third place in the youth and adult divisions. Children's division will receive placement certificates and participation ribbons for all entrants.

Semifinals for youth and adult divisions will be Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. on the Grove Stage. The finals for children, youth and adults will be on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. on the Grove Stage.

If the three first-place winners are from Clackamas County, they will advance to the Oregon State Fair Talent Show. Otherwise, the next runner up from Clackamas County will advance to the Oregon State Fair.

Gospel Sing Competition

There are two divisions within the Gospel Sing Competition: youth (ages 10-17), and adult (ages 18+). Cash prizes will be given to the top three placing in each division.

Finals for the youth division will be Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m. on the Grove Stage. Finals for adults will be Thursday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m. on the Grove Stage.

The two first place acts (youth and adult) will be introduced and receive their prize money at an encore performance at The Fish Gospel Sing and Inspirational Message to be held at the Clackamas County Fair on Sunday, Aug. 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
