Aurora girl selected Pioneer Chapter of the Oregon Hunter's Association top member
For her involvement in many of the habitat projects administered by the Pioneer Chapter of the Oregon Hunters Association, Shelby Park, 16, of Aurora, has been selected as OHA's youth member of the year.
The OHA's 26 chapters nominate candidates for the annual awards, and OHA state board members and chapters vote to choose the winners.
Park has participated in guzzler projects and duck nest box installations, and she has become a regular at the OHA Pioneer Chapter banquet fundraiser, which will be held this year on March 4 at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds (contact David Scott at 503-710-1233 for information).
For several years, Park has been active at the annual Sportsman's Show and she has assumed the leadership role at the chapter's banquet for organizing the prize runners. She makes certain that winning bidders receive their prizes and that the live auction items are paraded through the audience.
OHA is the state's largest Oregon-based pro-hunting organization, with 10,000 members and 26 chapters statewide. Its mission is "protecting Oregon's, wildlife, habitat and hunting heritage."
