by: JEFF GOODMAN / PAMPLIN MEDIA GROUP - Senior doubles player Kayla Parkinson and the North Marion girls tennis team wrapped up their season at the Special District 2 championships May 5-8 at Portland Tennis Center.Emma Snyder reached the consolation finals of the singles tournament to highlight the North Marion girls tennis team’s outing at the Special District 2 championships May 5-8 at Portland Tennis Center.

After falling to Cascade freshman Sarah Teubner in the round of 32, the junior won three matches in a row to set up a meeting with fourth-seeded Madras senior Itzel Romero.

Snyder fell in three sets, 1-6, 7-5, 2-6.

Also representing the Huskies in singles play were senior Rachel Dahlke, freshman Eliza Kauffman and junior Nayli Nevarez.

None of North Marion’s four doubles teams was able to get past the round of 16. The tandems were seniors Kayla Parkinson and Victoria Suchanski, seniors Chloe Studor and Lizbeth Torres, sophomores Rachel Breneman and Olivia Christenson and sophomores Laura Grigorioff and Tiarra Jacoby.

La Salle Prep senior Michelle Kramer captured the district singles title with a 7-5, 6-2 victory against freshman teammate Rachel Primack.

Top-seeded Cascade sisters Esther and Elizabeth Suelze won the district doubles title, posting a 7-6, 7-6 score against La Salle Prep seniors Kenna Murphy and Gabielle Timmen.
