Canby—It has been a particularly good week for Canby senior Cassidy Posey. She helped lead her team past the Westview Wildcats in the opening round of the 6A playoffs, was named a first team all-league player, and on Friday, Mar. 3 signed a letter of intent to play basketball for George Fox University.

"I'm feeling really excited for the future," Posey said. "I can't wait to continue my basketball career."

Posey is tentatively planning on studying pharmacy at George Fox. The 5'10" senior has been playing basketball for the past 12 years, and looks to continue competing in the sport she loves and connecting with knew people.

"I've met most of my best friends from basketball," Posey said. "It creates a really good relationship. I've played traveling basketball too, and that's a lot of fun to travel with your friends."

The Canby girls basketball team has done well this season, taking third place in the Three Rivers League with a 10-6 record. The Cougars won their first outing in the postseason against Westview 55-51, and are slated to face the number one team in the state, Southridge, on Friday, Mar. 2.

Heading into George Fox's program next year, Posey will join a solid team that has posted a 24-3 record before joining the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship tournament. The Bruins are scheduled to compete against the College of Saint Benedict in the opening round on Friday, Mar. 2.
