Sheriffs office issues scam alert
The Crook County Sheriffs Office has received several calls regarding a recent phone scam.
The male caller identified himself as law enforcement. He explained that he had a warrant for their arrest and that they needed to either give him their account information or go to a retail store and purchase money cards to pay for the bail.
One call was for $500, and the others were in the amount of $900.
The caller also told them that if they did not send the money within an hour they would be arrested.
These calls are not from the law enforcement community and are scams. For more information, or to report a scam, call the Sheriff's Office at 541-447-6398.
