Three arrested, one at-large in burglary case

Automobiles, firearms and tools are among the items that were stolen from a Crook County residence

Four local residents were charged in a burglary case that orginated in Crook County this past month.

On Wednesday, July 30, at about 5:54 a.m., the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team (CERT) with the assistance of the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement task force (CODE), Crook County Sheriff’s Office, and the Prineville Police Department executed a search warrant at a Southeast Canyon Road residence.

During the month of July, the Crook County Sheriff’s Office had been investigating a string of residential burglaries. Sheriff’s Office detectives were able to gather enough information from the investigation to obtain search warrants for two residences, looking for stolen property taken during the burglaries.

At 7:30 a.m., on the same day, a second search warrant was executed at a Northeast Sixth Street home in Prineville. As a result of the search warrants, stolen property was recovered and three subjects were arrested.

“The burglaries entailed a lot of firearms, tools and automobiles,” said Crook County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. James C. Savage. “We have subsequently recovered some of those items.”

Kelly Michael Shearer, 34, of Prineville, was arrested for unlawful use of a motor vehicle; theft by receiving; unlawful manufacture of marijuana; and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Lucas Thomas Bechtel, 32, of Prineville, was arrested for theft by receiving, and Talina Shantel Ortiz, 36, of Prineville, was arrested on two outstanding warrants.

According to Savage, the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

Savage said that the primary suspect in the case, Bo McRae Bryant, 33, is still at large.

“Bryant is considered extremely dangerous and we ask that the public not attempt to contact him,” said Savage. “He is on the run and knows that we are looking for him.”

Savage asks that anyone who sees him, contact the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, at 541-447-6398, or your local law enforcement office.
