A Prineville man was arrested Monday evening on theft charges after fleeing police.
Donovan Lee Adkins, age 46, had been seen in the area of Northwest Deer Street and Northwest Third Street after being identified as a suspect in multiple thefts from local businesses over a four-day period.
As officers approached Adkins, at 6:46 p.m., they told him he was under arrest, but he ran a short distance before complying with officers.
Adkins was taken into custody and charged with three counts of third-degree theft, third-degree escape, violation of a Deschutes Count Felony Warrant. He was transported to the Deschutes County Jail due to lack of resources at the Crook County Jail.
The Prineville Police Department was assisted by the Crook County Sheriff's in apprehending Adkins. The police department also thanks community members who provided assistance with tips that led to the arrest.
