Fire believed to have started outside the home, but cause is unknown and remains under investigation.

Occupants of a Prineville home were displaced following a fire at a Northeast Sixth Street residence late Tuesday morning.

According to Fire Chief Matt Smith with Crook County Fire and Rescue the fire was reported shortly after 10:30 a.m. Nine firefighters responded with two fire engines and one ambulance.

Smith could not offer a monetary estimate on damages to the home, but said the fire displaced the occupants, who are now being assisted by Red Cross.

No injuries occurred during the fire, but one occupant was treated on scene for an undisclosed medical issue.

Fire officials have determined that the fire started outside of the home and ignited the home's exterior, however the cause is unknown and the incident is still under investigation.
