Randon Reid, of Phoenix, Arizona, speeds away from cops in Crown Victoria vehicle on Forest Road 42

PHOTO COURTESY OF CROOK COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Randon ReidLocal authorities arrested a Phoenix resident leaving the Symbiosis festival early Tuesday morning after fleeing officers and crashing into a tree.

According to Crook County Undersheriff James Savage, at 1:28 a.m., a deputy from the Crook County Sheriff's Office and an officer from the Prineville Police Department were traveling southbound on Forest Service Road 42 near mile post 4 and were passed aggressively by what authorities called a police-style vehicle. The car, driven by 32-year-old Randon Carl Reid, of Phoenix, Arizona, was a white 2009 Ford Crown Victoria and was equipped with a spot light and push bumper similar to a police vehicle.

The vehicle aggressively passed both the county and city patrol cars on a double yellow line on a blind corner, heading south on Forest Service Road 42. Both the Sheriff's and Prineville Police vehicle attempted to stop the aggressive driver, but it accelerated south at a high rate of speed with both patrol vehicles following with their emergency lights activated.

Savage noted that this particular area of Forest Service Road 42 is very narrow and has several sharp corners, and after being followed for about a half a mile, the Crown Victoria lost control and crashed into a tree off the west side of the road. It came to rest against a tree that prevented it from traveling down a steep embankment.

Both the sheriff's deputy and Prineville police officer were able to take Reid into custody without incident. It was determined that he had left the Symbiosis event on his way back home. He was uninjured in the crash, but was taken to St. Charles Prineville by sheriff's deputies to be evaluated.

After being cleared by the hospital, he was taken to the Crook County Jail and charged with attempt to elude police, reckless driving, possession of cocaine and possession of schedule II controlled substance.
