Every year, Oregon sets aside Jan. 27 as Fire Service Appreciation Day and next Tuesday, Jan 28 the Central Oregonian will be publishing a four page special section in support of the Crook County Fire and Rescue. Jan. 27 was set as the date in honor of the nations first organized fire department formed in Boston in 1678. This year marks the 130 anniversary of a organized fire department in Prineville, as The Prineville Volunteer Fire Company on Jan. 20, 1884. High Desert Museum will be holding free family admission this Saturday, Jan. 25 and again on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The free family admission program is offered courtesy of Mid Oregon Credit Union and supports the educational mission of Mid Oregon Credit Union. The program provides families the opportunity to explore the wildlife and living history of Central Oregon.

Whats Brewing? This weeks community forum will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 7 to 8 a.m. at Meadow Lakes Restaurant. This weeks speaker will be Dr. Laura Gratton, Mosaic Clinic discussing the past, the present, and the clinics future role in local healthcare. The community forum is free and open to the public, breakfast is available.
