Fill the Bowl fundraiser scheduled

Local law enforcement will use funds raised for the purchase of a drug detection K9

Members of the Crook County Sheriff’s office and the Prineville Police Department will be out on the streets this Saturday carrying dog bowls.

And, it’s not dog food they are after.

The department’s “Fill the Bowl” fundraiser will take place at the intersection of East Third and Elm streets from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The event is meant to raise funds for the Sheriff’s department acquisition of a drug detection K9 for Crook County.

“We are going to be at the intersection soliciting donations,” explained Deputy Mitch Madden, “We will have dog bowls with us and, at red lights, we will go into the street and ask people to put money in the bowl.”

Madden added that he will be joined by other members of the Sherriff’s and Prineville Police Department.

A second fundraising event will take place at Club Pioneer on Friday, May 9, from 4 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

“We will be seating people, busing tables and performing other duties of a dining room,” said Madden. “We will have donation envelopes available at all the tables for people to donate.”

According to Madden, the department has raised $7,000 so far.

“We are hoping to raise the entire amount of $25,000,” said Madden, “We will wait until we have done so before getting the K9.”
