And the Oscar goes to ... the Chamber has started its selection process for the Annual Chamber Awards Banquet

INTERNET - The Prineville-Crook County Chamber of Commerce will host the Annual Chamber Awards Banquet with the theme 'A Night at the Oscars' on April 7. Nominations are due Feb. 2.

The local chamber of commerce is gearing up to host its annual awards banquet again and is looking for people deserving of its various awards.

The Annual Chamber Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, April 7 at the Grizzly Mountain building on the Crook County Fairgrounds. The theme this year is "A Night at the Oscars."

"We usually encourage people to dress up for these banquets," said Casey Kaiser, Prineville-Crook County Chamber of Commerce executive director, regarding the theme. "With this theme, people are invited to dress in their Hollywood best."

Chamber leaders explained that each year a few individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the community are recognized for their efforts at the Awards Banquet.

"Recognizing individuals and organizations that strive to continually improve our community is not only an important way of showing appreciation for their contribution, but also for encouraging others to strive for further success," Kaiser said.

In addition to presenting the annual awards, the event provides Chamber leaders and members an opportunity to celebrate successes, to relax, and to enjoy an evening of entertainment and socializing.

Kaiser said the Chamber board, staff, and volunteers work hard to keep the costs of the event down while still providing a memorable experience for the attendees and award recipients. Consequently, they seek out contributions from members in the form of sponsorships.

The Chamber likewise asks its members to help decide who they will honor with the awards given out each year. Some awards recognize businesses, such as the large and small business of the year, while others, like the Citizen of the Year and Lifetime Achievement, are given to individuals.

"We would like your help in choosing from the many outstanding businesses in our community, which ones will be the recipients of the annual awards for the calendar year 2017," Kaiser said. "The selection process begins with the members of the Prineville-Crook County Chamber of Commerce nominating the businesses and individuals who should be considered for these awards."

Members have been asked to return a completed nomination form to the Chamber by Friday, Feb. 2, or they can send emailed forms to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
