The annual For the Children Softball Tournament was held in Prineville on Saturday and Sunday, July 26 to 27.
The womens softball tournament raised more than $3,700 to support For The Children, a nonprofit Crook County child abuse prevention organization. The funds go to help with child abuse awareness efforts and the training of law enforcement personnel. Thirteen teams participated in the tournament with Mikes Fence Center going undefeated and winning the event. Home Town Dillons finished second while Cooler came away with third place. Marles Vizenor, spokesperson for the Prineville Womens League, said that the league would like to thank all the merchants and individuals that helped make the tournament a success.
Vizenor, who is the pitcher for Mikes Fence Center, helped her team to a 3-1 victory over Home Town Dillons in the championship game.
