Crook County has a narrow lead over Tillamook in tournament, which is being held in Molalla

Burkhardt is one of 16 Cowboy wrestlers to reach the semifinals of the Special District 1 Regional Championships which will conclude Saturday night in Molalla.The Crook County Cowboys have taken a small lead over second-place Tillamook after the first day of the Special District 1 Regional Wrestling Tournament, which is being held in Molalla.

The Cowboys have amassed 173 points, to 158 for Tillamook. Estacada is a distant third with 73 points, while Scappoose is fourth with 72.5.

Rounding out the scoring are Molalla, 70.5, Banks, 64, Gladstone, 42, Madras, 36, Seaside, 16, Astoria, 11, and Corbett, 3.

The Cowboys have 16 wrestlers in the semifinals and nine more still alive in the consolation brackets.

Hunter Mode (106), Steven Ware (106), Trevor Martin (113), Tannon Joyner (113), Pacer Quire (120), Zachary Mauras (126), Cole Morgan (132), Tyler Fioravanti (138), Turner Austin (145), Luke Brewer (145), Colton Burkhardt, (160), Kyle Knudtson (170), Jaxson Rhoden (182), Cal Wilcox (220), Mario Hanson (220), and Caleb Parrott (285) are all in the championship bracket, while Tucker Shores (132), Gage Perry (138), Jesse Gore (152), Mason Cooley (152), Garrett Bond (170), Colton Schlachter (182), Wyatt Holliday (195) and Hayden Hilderbrand (195) are still competing in the consolation bracket.

The lone Crook County wrestler out of the tournament is Sage Harris (160) and even Harris performed well in the tournament, going toe to toe with No. 1 seed Eli Mcrae in the opening round before falling 15-7. Harris then pinned his second opponent before losing to Catalino LeClaire of Madras in the second round of consolation matches.

Tillamook is still in position to challenge the Cowboys with 14 wrestlers in the semifinals and 10 still alive in the consolation rounds.

Wrestling will continue throughout the day Saturday, with regional champions crowned early in the evening.
