The North Marion cheer team finished in the middle of the 11-team field at the 2018 4A Cheer State Championships

JONATHAN VILLAGOMEZ - The North Marion cheer team scored 133.20 points to finish sixth of 11 teams at the 2018 4A Cheer State Championships.The North Marion cheer team took its talents to Portland on Saturday, competing in the 2018 Cheer State Championships at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Huskies scored 133.20 points to finish in sixth place out of 11 teams in the 4A competition. The Henley Hornets narrowly edged out the Newport Cubs for the state title, leading the field with 181.80 to win the state title by a 0.70-point margin. Cottage Grove came in third with 155.80 points, followed by Sisters with 146.00 and Sweet Home with 142.70.

North Marion received high marks for building skills, placing fifth overall in the category, but were ninth in the tumbling and jumping category and tied for sixth in the overall routine category.
