After an elderly occupant died, the North Clackamas School District may try to sell his vacant 1955 home in Damascus, hoping someone would move the house off the property to make room for a future elementary school.

Superintendent Matt Utterback will recommend that School Board members on Thursday approve the sale of the building at 18031 S.E. Vogel Road, thereby saving the district $6,700 in taxes and foregoing a potential net revenue stream of $3,000 annually in rent.

Utterback noted this property sale would be part of the 2006 bond measure, and he promised that he would soon recommend property sales to help balance the budget, as pushed for by the community in a series of public-input sessions in January.
