Dance finals bring home silver, bronze trophies

Clackamas High School’s Cavalettes and Rex Putnam High School’s Royal Crowns shocked the crowd at the dance and drill state championships this past weekend by placing second in the show and 5A intermediate categories respectfully.

Gladstone and Milwaukie teams also did well at the Oregon School Activities Association championship held Saturday, March 22, at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland. Gladettes and Pony Prancers dance teams each brought home third-place trophies.

In Saturday’s Drill Down, three local team members dominated the individual exercises by placing in the top six: CHS’s Emily Melchoir placed second; Ashley Hale of Gladstone placed third; and Gladstone’s Nicole Hart placed sixth.
