Open house looks at Strawberry Lane project

Oregon Department of Transportation officials will host an open house Thursday, May 15, offering the public a chance to review their plans for raising the Southeast Strawberry Lane overpass crossing at Interstate 205.

Attendees also will have the opportunity to review ODOT’s planned retaining wall designs as part of this project and vote for their preferred option.

The open house is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at Kraxberger Middle School, 17777 Webster Road, Gladstone. Members of the ODOT project team will be available to discuss and review planned project elements. In addition, information will be available about project construction, staging, traffic impacts, detour routes and noise impacts.

Project goals

1. Permanently raise the Strawberry Lane structure from 17 feet, 2 inches to 18 feet, 8 inches, to gain additional vertical clearance over I-205.

2. Construct retaining walls east of I-205 on the north and south sides of Strawberry Lane.

3. Repave and stripe Strawberry Lane to match the final structure grade.

4. Construct a seismic retrofit of the existing structure.

Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2015 with completion by late summer 2015. The schedule is subject to change. For more information, visit oregon.gov/ODOT/HWY/REGION1/pages/I-205-at-Strawberry-Lane.aspx
