The fire was contained to one apartment and was quickly extinguished. The cause is still under investigation. During their search, firefighters found a man with no detectable pulse in a bedroom. He was taken to Emanuel Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

He was the third fire victim pulled from a structure fire in the past five weeks by Clackamas firefighters. Fire victims from Sept. 11 and from Oct. 13 have both been released from the hospital.

Firefighters say there were no working smoke alarms in any of the three residences.

“Please make sure you always have a working smoke alarm outside of any sleeping area and one in each bedroom,” said Steve Hoffiditz, Clackamas Fire spokesman.
