Oregon City's Trail Distilling receives early honors from American Distilling Institute
A new Oregon City distiller received silver medals at the 2017 American Distilling Institute's judging competition last month.
"This is a great honor for Trail Distilling," said co-owner Sara Brennan. "We've been open five months and to get this recognition at the largest and most respected international competition is an honor."
The awards went to Trail Distilling's First City Vodka, handcrafted from wheat and noted for its soft landing on the palate, and to Trillium Gin, which contains 14 botanicals imparting a citrus and floral taste.
Trail Distilling soon will release First City Rum, and its rye, grown at a nearby family farm, will be distilled into whiskey in early summer and put into barrels for aging. Trail Distilling is barrel-aging Trillium Gin for a release within the year.
Trail Distilling's tasting room, 21553 S. Highway 213, Oregon City, is open from noon to 7 p.m. Fridays, and from noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
