Oregon City police seek the public's assistance in identifying the person who threw a watermelon from a moving vehicle, causing extensive damage to a parked vehicle around 12:54 a.m. June 9 near the 14700 block of Glen Oak Road.

PHOTO COURTESY: OCPD - An associated suspect vehicle was caught on a neighbor's security camera, which appears as a streak between the two cars on the left side of this screen shot.Police believe the watermelon was intentionally thrown from the moving vehicle at the parked vehicle. Police lack any information at this time to indicate the victim was intentionally targeted.

An associated suspect vehicle, which appears to be a pickup, was caught on a neighbor's security camera:

Impact can be heard on the video, but not seen, since the victim's vehicle is mostly out of view. After the noises of a man yelling and a crash, the suspect vehicle can be seen on the video fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed westbound on Glen Oak Road towards Highway 213.

The watermelon was thrown at the back of the victim's car, denting the rear hatch of the vehicle and breaking the rear window.

"The force caused the watermelon to explode and also damaged the interior of the vehicle," said OCPD Captain Shaun Davis.

Anyone who might have information about the criminal mischief or has information about either the suspects or the suspect vehicle is encouraged to call the Oregon City Tip Line at 503-496-1616.
