Clackamas Community College will host "Lessons From the Dark," an exhibition by California-based artist Leslie Nemour, in the Alexander Gallery, Jan. 8-Feb. 2.

PHOTO COURTESY: CCC - 'Mom' is by California-based painter Leslie Nemour, whose show at Clackamas Community College opens Jan. 8.The painter's exhibition is inspired by her childhood fascination with women on the movie screen. She worked to capture rebellious personas of women in roles such as tomboys, sex kittens, aristocrats and servants, all using projector screens as her canvases. Her compositions explore the validity of both heroic and unscrupulous characters.

Nemour is an associate professor of art at MiraCosta College in California. Her work has been shown nationally and is supported by the UCROSS Foundation and Social and Public Art Resource Center.

An artist's reception will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 17 in the Alexander Gallery, 19600 Molalla Ave., Oregon City. The gallery is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with the exception of campus closures.
