County to host workshop on living with chronic conditions
The Social Services Division at Clackamas County is offering a free, six-week workshop on living with chronic conditions.
Participants will meet from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays for six weeks starting Jan. 10 and ending Feb. 14 at the Pioneer Center, 615 Fifth St., Oregon City.
The workshop will provide people with tools to manage their own condition. Facilitators do not give advice, but rather share techniques and tools to help people find hope and useful options for feeling better while living with a chronic condition.
Participants learn self-management techniques to fight fatigue, problem solve, make decisions, develop action plans, eat wisely and manage stress, as well as ways to improve communication with family members and health care providers. This course aims to help people gain skills and confidence to better self-manage their health and outlook on life.
Caregivers are welcome to take this training. Participants will receive a free Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions book and relaxation CD to support their continued journey to wellness.
