'St. Paddy's Day Blarney Blast' set at Gray Gables in Oak Grove
Locals can break out their green and celebrate this year's St. Patrick's Day — Saturday, March 17 — by attending the "St. Paddy's Day Blarney Blast" at Gray Gables Estate in Oak Grove.
The nonprofit Senior Citizens Council of Clackamas County will host the dinner and auction as its annual fundraiser from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at 3009 S.E. Chestnut St. Tickets are $60 ($75 for premium seating) and can be ordered by calling 503-657-1366. Sponsorships also are available.
Attendees will enjoy Irish appetizers, dinner and libations; a bagpiper; live music by the Bigfoot Mojo trio (including national mandolin champion Josiah Payne and upright bassist Belinda Underwood); Irish dancing lessons; and silent and live auctions.
The auction items include vacations in Bend and on Lopez Island, part of Washington's San Juan Islands; tickets to a Trail Blazer game (donated by Wells Fargo); Portland Spirit cruises; a police ride-along (donated by the Lake Oswego Police Department); a $1,200 gift certificate to Mattress World; skydiving; wine tasting at Willamette Valley Vineyards; gift cards to local restaurants and pubs; Irish beer; golf at local courses; and a basketball signed by members of the 1977 Trail Blazers championship team (donated by the Maurice Lucas Foundation).
Funds raised at the event will support the ongoing operations at the Senior Citizens Council of Clackamas County, which for 46 years has provided free or low-cost services for home-bound, frail, vulnerable and geographically isolated individuals.
