by: JOHN DENNY - Oregon City head baseball coach Greg Lord (left) and assistant coach Andy Chapin (right) meet with high school players (from left) Jack Powell, Clay Valenzuela-Reece, Jalen Satter and Terrel Hood to discuss the progress on the high schools new 80x160-foot baseball hitting facility (background).Oregon City High School head baseball coach Greg Lord says the school’s new 80x160-square-foot baseball hitting facility is nearing completion, thanks to donations of volunteer labor, materials and money from the community.

"We can still use some help with electrical and wiring inside the building, lighting inside the building, protective nets and screening, and artificial turf to cover the floor,” Lord says. "But we're almost there."

When complete, the $440,000 hitting facility will be one of the largest in the state, with four hitting tunnels and an 80x80-square-foot space for indoor practice and drills.

Lord says that businesses and individuals who still wish to donate materials, labor or money to complete the project may do so by contacting him at 503-880-5377.
