by: COURTESY U OF O - GREG SKIPPEROregon City High School graduate Greg Skipper continued to make a name for himself in University of Oregon track and field over the weekend.

The redshirt sophomore on Saturday set a meet record at a dual meet with Arizona at Oregon’s Hayward Field, launching the hammer a career-best 231-6.

The mark moves Skipper up to No. 2 on Oregon’s list of all-time best hammer throwers — second only to Ken Flax (257-0 in 1986).

All six of Skipper’s marks were personal records, beating his old personal best of 223-5, which he had set a week earlier at the Aztec Invitational at San Diego State.

“So far this outdoor season Greg has PR’d at every meet,” said his mom, Brenda Skipper. “We’ll hope it keeps going that way.”

Earlier this year, Skipper set a University of Oregon record for the indoor weight throw with an effort of 68-3 at the Husky Classic. The old mark in that event was 68-0-1/4, set by Brian Richotte in 2007.
