Milwaukie gets job done on mound, at plate vs. Liberty
Milwaukie starter Bradley McVay combined with Kaden Middleton one a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts, and four Milwaukie batters had two hits each as part of an 11-hit attack, lifting the Mustangs to a 10-0 road win Thursday over Liberty in Hillsboro.
McVay worked four innings and struck out nine of the 13 batters he faced. After Liberty's Branden Gillard singled with one out in the first inning, McVay retired the next 11 batters in order before turning the ball over to Middleton to start the fifth.
Riley Howard, Tyson Kelly, McVay and Middleton had two hits each and wcored seven of the 10 runs for the Mustangs.
Milwaukie took a 2-0 lead in the first against Liberty starter Blake Crippen when Cole Roberts was hit by a pitch, McVay doubled to right, Roberts scored on a wild pitch, and McVay scored on Theo Dover's RBI-ground out to shortstop.
The Mustangs added single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings, and then broke the game open with a four-run sixth that pushed the lead to 9-0.
