Tyra Bradford and Rory Shedler added 11 points each for the Pioneers, who rallied from an early 9-2 deficit to take a 35-18 halftime lead.

Madison McGowan finished with nine points to lead South Eugene.

"A little sluggish to start, but … it's summer and I'm not worried about winning in June," Pioneers coach Kurt Guelsdorf said. "Of course, we're going to coach every game to win them, but we've got our eyes set on bigger goals down the road."

A total of 120 teams were set to compete in three divisions during the three-day tournament, showcasing most of the elite girls' basketball programs from Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

The tournament continues through Sunday with the champions for the Division 1 Diamond and Ruby brackets scheduled to meet at 2:15 p.m. at Oregon City High School to determine the overall champion.
