REVIEW/NEWS PHOTO: JIM BESEDA - La Salle Prep's Taycee Wedin averaged 21 points a game in leading the Falcons to a fourth consecutive Northwest Oregon Conference girls' basketball title.Wedin, who shared the league's top award with teammate Aleah Goodman last season, returned for ACL knee surgery in March to average a league best 21 points a game and was named to the all-NWOC first team for the fourth time in voting by the league's coaches.

Joining Wedin on the first team were Milwaukie's India Gultry, Wilsonville's Cydney Gutridge, St. Helens' Maddie Holm, La Salle Prep's Colby Jansen, and Hillsboro's Katie Salas.

La Salle Prep's Kelli Wedin was named the league's Coach of the Year.

Taycee Wedin, the 5-foot-9 combo-guard, is one of the most prolific outside shooters in the state across all classifications. She knocked down at least two 3-pointers in all 14 league games and broke loose for a season-high 30 points twice -- first in a 72-33 rout of Putnam on Jan. 12, and again in an 89-21 romp over Parkrose on Feb. 13.

She also reached a major milestone in the Falcons' final regular-season home game on Feb. 16 when she scored her 2,000th career point in a 60-39 victory over Wilsonville.

In 24 regular-season games, Wedin averaged 20.1 points a game on 47.8 percent shooting (172 for 360) from the field, including 45.5 percent (92 for 202) from 3-point range. She also averaged 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.4 steals for the defending Class 5A state champions.

Wedin confirmed her college plans during the early signing period in November when she signed a Naitonal Letter of Intent to play NCAA Division I women's basketball for the St. Mary's Gaels of the West Coast Conference.
