Chamber of Commerce focuses on marketing
The Estacada Chamber of Commerce plans to dedicate more than $15,000 toward marketing local businesses in the next year.
"A prospering business sector is a necessary and important component in a healthy community," Estacada Chamber of Commerce President Bennett Johnson wrote in a press release. "That's why the Estacada Chamber of Commerce has a single focus: promoting the success of our member businesses."
In order to fundraise for its members, the Chamber held the Spring Gala and Auction this past April. This year, more than $5,000 was raised at the event, and all of these funds will be used toward marketing member businesses and the Estacada area. Chamber leaders say they plan to hold the gala annually.
The Chamber's marketing campaign has also included radio advertisements, designed to encourage listeners to visit the Estacada area. These ads have been airing throughout the summer and will continue in the fall.
The Chamber has been focusing on word of mouth advertising, as well.
Johnson noted that recently, the Chamber had spoken with new Estacada residents who were in search of temporary storage, veterinary services and a local hair stylist. They were able to refer the residents to members who provide these services. Additionally, the Chamber plans on providing new Estacada residents with welcome packages filled with information about local businesses and resources.
Other upcoming events organized by the Chamber that will highlight local businesses include the Shop Local Trade Fair on Saturday, Sept. 9 and the Community Recognition Celebration on Friday, Oct. 27.
"It is an unfortunate fact that many area residents purchase services and do their shopping in Portland and other surrounding urban areas," Johnson wrote. "The Estacada Chamber of Commerce wants to persuade those people to support their community and spend those dollars locally. We just need to get the word out, and that means marketing."
