With several events around town in celebration of Veterans Day, Nov. 11, Estacadans spent the day honoring those who served in the military.

The morning began with the American Legion Carl Douglas Post's annual breakfast. After that, a parade organized by the Estacada Area Support Our Troops Foundation began at the high school and made its way downtown and to the Veterans Memorial.

The annual Veterans Day ceremony at the memorial, also organized by EASOTF, focused on young soldiers who fibbed to fight.

"(Soldiers) have enlisted underage since the beginning of our military," said Dennis Dahrens, president and founder of the Estacada Area Support Our Troops Foundation, noting that the youngest soldier during the Revolutionary War was 7-year-old Nathan Futrell.

During the ceremony, Enoch Stalcup sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "America the Beautiful," and the American Legion presented EASOTF with a check for a portion of the proceeds from their breakfast.

Linda Main, Rita Perry, Sandy Hunt and the Estacada Garden Girls were honored for their service to EASTOF and the Estacada Veterans Memorial.
